The samples provided illustrate two different uses of journalism — to inform for the purpose of generating a response, and to inform as an adjunct to an activity or avocation.
In any case, journalistic writing demands a very different skill set than any other form of writing. Our ability to perform, and perform well, in this arena is a testament to flexibility and the creative impulse.
